Commission Stages

Ordering a commissioned original piece can seem like a daunting process so I've put the stages from enquiry through to completion below to take away the unknown! I am always available to guide you through and regularly keep in touch about progress.

OPEN FOR COMMISSIONS 2024!

I am now taking orders for custom drawings for 2024 - please note there is a 4-6 week turnaround time on a commission at the moment, so get in quickly!

Step by Step Guide to a Commission!

1. Decide what size, subject and style of artwork you would like

I can create work in any size, but most commissions are A4 or A3. Have a think of where you might like your piece to go in your home to help you get an idea of sizing - you want a piece to stand out as a feature!

Take a look at my gallery or email to get inspiration for styles you make like and choose who you would like to capture.

4. Discuss Final Layout and Confirm Design Before Deposit

Once I have seen the photos and we have confirmed a design, I will then send you an email outlining the design plan, costs and payment details. I will also advise you on an estimated start date if there is a waitlist, although I try and accommodate any deadlines.

I kindly ask for a 50% deposit before starting work to cover supplies and time, with the rest paid on completion.

2. Contact me with your details and ideas of the design you would like

Take a look at my Contact page for details on the different ways to contact me if you want to get a custom design made. You can use the form, email, call or message me and we can start creating a design together!

5. Start drawing with regular check ins!

Then I start drawing your piece! I stay in touch frequently to give you updates about your commission. The first is once the preliminary sketch is completed, to confirm you are happy with the sizing and layout.

I will then regularly update you on how the piece is going (unless you want it to stay a surprise!) and make any adjustments you would like as we go through.

3. Send through 5-10 reference photos

The best reference photos are nice and clear, in good lighting and with good detail in the fur and especially the eyes. Eyes are the link to their soul after all!

I ask for a selection of 5-10 photos, so if some elements are captured well in one photo but not others, I can take the best parts from each photo to create the piece you want!

6. Confirm final piece, complete payment and get your order!

Once the drawing/painting is complete, I will send you a photo to check you love your artwork and make any changes you would like. After this, I will then send through your final invoice to settle and will get the piece delivered to you from there.

Your artwork will arrived packaged safely ready for you to enjoy!
